Senior citizen who bought lottery ticket in Davao City wins P35-M grand prize
On February 14, Valentine's Day, a SINGLE bettor from Davao City has already collected her winnings in the Lotto 6/42 grand prize worth more than P35 million.
The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) revealed in a Facebook post that the winner—whose name was withheld—claimed the P35,314,806.60 grand prize at its Mandaluyong City headquarters.
This year's winning numbers from the draw on January 17 are 34-24-02-06-33-07.
The 63-year-old senior gambler claimed to have bought the winning ticket at a local lottery retailer.
She claimed that because she needed to take care of her family, including her grandchildren, she has never worked in her life. His deceased husband's Social Security System (SSS) pension is her sole source of income.
According to PCSO, the new millionaire serves as a lector commentator in church each Sunday.
She claimed in an interview that she has only been paying attention to the digits 07 and 02 because she was born on July 2; the other four, 34-24-06 and 33, simply entered her head and she started shading them.
That is my first time placing a wager on this set of numbers, she declared, "ngayon ko lamang po tinaayan ang kumbinasyong ng mga numero na ito."
The lone Davao bettor expressed her belief in miracles happening for those in need.
The Tax Reform Acceleration and Inclusion (Train) Law, according to PCSO, mandates that a 20 percent tax be automatically subtracted from the jackpot reward. According to the PCSO charter, wins must be claimed within a year of the draw date or they will be forfeited and added to the PCSO Charitable Fund.
The organisation also encouraged prize recipients to mark their names and signatures on the back of their tickets and keep them safe.
